  1. I saw his speach on youtube but it was hard to understand.

  2. We saw it in school and he really gave authority and confidence that America was going to change.

  3. I observed President Andrew Jackson's and President Barack Obama's inaugural speeches. Both of them said that "people" and "goverment cooperation" were very important. Also, both of them said that we, the American people, have strong "will" and "faith." Jackson and Obama both used duties, but Jackson used it in in context as his duty. President Obama said, "It was our duty as American people." Those are some reasons how these two particular president's speeches were alike and different.

I am comparing and contrasting Thomas Jefferson and Barack Obama. The likeness between them is the way they use power in their speech. They are compared because of the way other countries feel our power and know what we can use with it. Both of them contrast by the way they use government. Thomas Jefferson uses government by how they are strong because they set us free from Britain but Barack Obama uses it where the government needs to be restored. Though I agree with the both of them, that all depends on the time the speech was spoke.

  5. I am comparing and contrasting Barack Obama and Herbert Hoover. Economy was on their minds mostly because of the stock market. Obama used "economy" three times and Hoover said it four times. Obama was already prepared for the miserable economy when sworn in but Hoover was not. In 1929, Hoover said the U.S. had reached a "higher degree of comfort and security than ever existed in the history of the world." Eight months later the stock market crashed and the Great Depression began. Peace was also a commonly used word. Hoover used "peace" 14 times because of crime and violence related to Prohibition which outlawed alcohol. Obama used it four times because of the war in Iraq which he has promised to end. Many of the problems Herbert Hoover faced 80 years ago are still with us today.

  6. I chose to compare the inaugural speech of present president, Barack Obama with past president, Franklin D Roosevelt. When President Roosevelt took office, the nation was in the beginning of the third year of the Great Depression. The year is now 2009 and Barack Obama is now our president and in a rescission that is becoming worse everyday. When Roosevelt gave his inaugural speech he blamed “unscrupulous money changers” for the Stock Market Crash of 1929 that caused jobs and homes to be lost. President Obama’s speech was similar because the economy is weakened with the loss of jobs and homes. A difference between these two speeches is that president Roosevelt said that the country is at war with the depression. President Obama says that the nation is at war with violence in a different country.

George Washington was elected over 200 years ago, and BArack Obama wasv elected nearly one month ago. In George Washington's speech he talked obut our country uniting and he talked about the government. As in Barack Obama's speech he talks about our complete nation and the government. George Washington talked about the Revolutionary War and earning the freedom we had longed for. And Barack Obama talked about the war in Iraq and helping them earn freedom now that we have ours.

  8. President Barack Obama and President Harry Truman both had interesting speeches with similarities and differences. A difference between their speeches is that President Obama almost always oses the word "nation" as "our nation." In Truman's speech, he never said that America was "our nation," but he often used the word "nation" by telling the citizens of America that they should rise up and work together with nations in western Europe. A similarity between their speeches is that they both were trying to push toward peace on the earth. Although Barack Obama and President Harry Truman are from different time periods, they both had original and special speeches.

  9. I have decided to compare the inaugural speeches of president of 1925 Calvin Coolidge and the president of 2009 Barack Obama. The similarities between these presidents speech’s are that they both cared deeply about the comfort of the Americans. Another similarities between the speech’s are the way the used our countries name in a strong way to represent us all. A difference between their speeches was that Obama was focused on getting us through the hard stock market times. Coolidge was not talking much about that because the problems weren’t as big then. A second difference could be that Coolidge was mostly worried about the bad things that could happen and did much to help revive them. Obama was more relaxed about these bad happenings that could take place and was still up against the problems. So these are the ways that are compared and contrasted by the president Calvin Coolidge’s inaugural speech and the president of 2009 Barack Obama's inaugural speech.

  10. I am comparing and contrasting Abraham Lincoln’s inaugural speech to Barack Obama’s inaugural speech. The difference between the two speeches is that Abraham’s speech uses more words fitted to his time than what is going on in modern day life. In Abe’s speech the word constitution was used many times because that is what needed to be covered, In Barack’s speech the word Nation is used multiple times because we as a Country need to come together as one nation, that is what needs to be covered as Barack becomes president. The similarity between the two speeches is that they talk about what is going to be fixed, not about what isn’t going to be fixed. They both talk about change that is needed in our government, and change that is need in our Country.

  11. I was comparing President Obama and William Howard Taft, and I noticed a lot of likes and differences. One of the things that were different was that there was an African American saying the speech, and a white person saying the speech. Another thing that was different was that taxes were equal for everybody, and now the rich will have to pay more than the poor. One of the things that were a like was that there is and was a war going on. The last thing that was a like was a like was that our country was still united back then unlike the times of the Civil War. All of this sums up why William Howard Taft and President Obama had a lot of likes and differences.

  12. I chose to compare President Lincoln and President Obama for my work. They are both great people by far; these presidents are a lot alike by the way they seem to have the very best interest of our country in mind. My proof for that is that that both happen to talk a lot about the people of America. Obama and Lincoln talk about how our country is hurt, but that they can help bring it back. Each time the presidents are also in war. It was and it is a hard time for both Heroes. The reason I think they used people a lot is that they really do love our country. Lincoln is my favorite president and he is a better man, but that does not mean that we can't support Obama all the way. Obama is a good man too, and that is why I chose to compare Lincoln and Obama for my work. One big difference is that Obama does not have to worry about slavery; Lincoln did. Obama does have solve the economy crisis though. It was harder for Lincoln. I think that Lincoln is a better man and many will agree, but Obama is a great President and I will support him. Obama and Lincoln are great men and Presidents; and I love it that they could help our country through these horrible times in our country.

  13. I observed Abe Lincoln and Barrack Obama on their likes and differences about their inaugural speeches. Lincoln and Obama were alike in many ways, such as: they used a lot of words that were about the wars going on at the time, and they talked about conflicts going on within their country. Obama and Lincoln were alike, but they were different too. Lincoln talked more about laws and the constitution. Obama talked about the world and the major conflicts happening to it. Also Lincoln and Obama were different because of how long it was from the time when Lincoln did his speech, and when Obama did his speech. As you can see Barrack Obama and Abe Lincoln have many likes and differences in their inaugural speeches.

  14. Barack Obama and William Harrison have many alike and different views. Harrison had many views on how the government ruled all the citizens. On the other hand, Obama had many views on all the problems that are hurting the nation. They both used power, but in different context. Obama used power in the context of other countries' terrorists, while Harrison used it in the context of the government. When you think about it, a lot of their views are not alike in any way.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I decided to compare John Adams to Barack Obama in the way of inaugural speeches. Both presidents talked about and agreed with each other about our nation, but since they served during different time periods, their views on protection, war, and government differ. However, they both talk about their job as president. The two presidents both mention the security of our people, too. These leaders of our country have many things in common, yet they disagree on many, many subjects.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I viewed John Q. Adams inaugural speech, and then looked over Barack Obama's speech and compared them. The word "nation" was used differently in context between the two speeches. Quincy used it as where people would live, but Obama used it stating about our nation, The United States of America. "People" was used the same because they were talking about the citizens of America. That is how the two presidents' speeches compare and contrast to each other.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I Have chosen to compare President Eisenhower to President Barack Obama. I think these two presidents are alike because they both have a mind fixed to help our country through these bad times. They also both say they wanted "change". These two presidents are also alike because they were both elected in hard times that only a real American hero could fix in the crashing economy. I think these two presidents did and will lead our country the way it needs to be leaded with respect, honor, and a real humble hero.

  18. Franklin.D. Roosevelt and Barack Obama varied with personal qualities, but their inaugaral speeches were very much alike. They were/are presidents in a time of need for America. In both of their speeches they spoke the word ''nation'' more than six times. While they were/are presidents They have tried very hard to restore balance to our wobbling community.Barack and Roosevelt asked the people to do what ever they can to help family and friends. These presidents were/are a great help to the United States of America!

  19. The inaugural speeches of Barrack Obama and Harry Truman possess many differing ideas, but they also have comparable thoughts. President Truman had used “peace” many times because of the occurrence of World War II. Obama also stated that America was at war with violence and hatred in the nation. President Obama said that the United States should change with the world, while Truman said they should help the hopeless people in the world. Both of these inspirational leaders had said that the economy must be altered. Obama said this about the United States, but Truman declared it about the entire world. Despite their differences and similarities, both Truman and Obama, have and will be notable presidents.

  20. I skimmed through President William Henry Harrison and President Barack Obama. Both of them said people many times but for different reasons. Barack Obama Said it so we could work to keep our planet green. William Henry Harrison said it because the was back right at the beginning of the civil war. Barack Obama said work many times but William Henry Harrison said construction many times. They more than likely meant the same thing. Barack Obama said work because we have to work to keep the planet the way it is. William Henry Harrison said construction many times because that was in America’s early days. President Barack Obama and President William Henry Harrison had some similarities and differences in their inaugural speeches.

  21. Barack Obama's and Harry Truman's inaugural speech I decided to compare them. IN Harry's speech he told us "More then half the people of the world are living in conditions approaching misery." Later in is speech he said, " For the first time in history, humanity possesses the knowledge and the skill to relieve the suffering of these people." Barack Obama told us "To the people of poor nations, we pledge to work alongside you to make your farms flourish and let clean waters flow; to nourish starved bodies and feed hungry minds." When these to wonderful presidents told us this they were saying that we can help and we will help the people that need it most.

  22. I am comparing President William H. Harrison’s inaugural speech to President Barrack Obama’s inaugural speech. Obama wants to help clean up this environment and make it as magnificent as it can be, although some people in the United States don’t care if they litter or don’t help the environment. Obama also wants to help out the people who are less fortunate than others. President Harrison’s speech was the largest speech of any president’s, using over 8,000 words. His speech included how we need to make our country more powerful. Harrison also talked a great length about the constitution. I think they are alike because they both want the citizens of the United States to work together and build a better world. I don’t really think they are different because they both want to rebuild our economy and make the United States as best as it can possibly be. This is why I think William H. Harrison and President Obama are alike and different.

  23. Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama started out their life in the presidential world with their inaugural speeches in some different and similar ways. Ronald and Barack began by addressing us citizens of America. Throughout President Reagan’s speech he talked about this great country, and stated, “And here a growing economy and support from family and community offer our best chance for a society where compassion is a way of life…” Mr. Obama, however, spoke about God, and the promise he gave us. He also articulated that the country would one day completely come together as one. Obama used the term “nation” fifteen times. He knew that saying this word could possibly inspire people to work as one country, and have compassion and empathy. On the other hand, Ronald used the expression “government” twenty times, maybe because the country was shaking of the Vietnam war and they needed its support. One similarity between the two deliverances is that both men have had or have the will to rebuild the dying economy, since our homeland is or was jumping out of a war. Reagan and Obama both talked about how much we rely on the government and how much it does for us. By the looks of these addresses by these two fine men, it’s certainly seems to me that they have a humongous passion for the United States of America.

  24. Barack Obama and FDR both dealt with a war and used "nation" to explain the war and used it the same way. FDR's use for the word nation was to keep together since some didn't want to fight WWII. Obama's uses for nation was also to keep the nation together because so many are split between the war on terrorism. Barack and FDR used “people” but in different ways. Obama used it as saying it was the people of the United States to deal with their problems. FDR refers to it as the whole world. They used words with similar and different meaning, but both meant to protect their country.

  25. The two president’s speeches I pick to compare are Barack Obama and Franklin D. Roosevelt. They both used “nation” in their speeches many times because we are having an economic crisis now and we had a bad economy then.
The difference is that then we had a great depression and now we are having a recession. There is many years between Obama and FDR, but they have many similar ideas and solutions.

  26. I am juxtaposing Barack Obama and Andrew Jackson’s inaugural speeches. Jackson’s time period experienced debt so he wanted to spend money wisely. Nowadays our government is funding our tax money to military. Also the language has transformed from the words like thus, thou, and endeavor. It has changed in Obama’s time because we the people have different situations such as global warming. Both of these presidents are similar because they have faith in healing the economy by spending money wisely. They are different because Obama thinks violence is the answer in war and Obama wants the troops in Iraq to be taken out.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I compared former President Ronald Reagan and President Barack Obama. Ronald Reagan used the word “government” Many times because the government needed more help when he was president, but now President Obama used it less because he focused more on the economy. Obama and Reagan both made use of “America” which led to both of them saying “freedom” plenty of times. Both of these presidents and there differences helped and will help the U.S.

  28. When I was analyzing William Howard Taft and present day President Barack Obama I noticed some similarities and difference. The similarity I noticed the most was about the wars. They both wanted to avoid war as much as possible. President Obama said that we would responsibly leave Iraq to its people. William H. Taft wanted to avoid war and not be associated with it. They both talked about the past presidents, but in different ways. William H. Taft talked about how the other presidents felt the heavy weight of responsibility fall on their shoulder. President Obama talked about how great the presidents were.

  29. I have compared the Inaugural Speech of Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama, and have decided that there are many likenesses, but few differences. Reagan has said that the Government has a lot of power, and Obama agreed as well, thus proving that Government isn’t everything. Of course there were some differences between the two speeches. Reagan stood fast in his belief that the people are more important than their government. Obama said that people should have a good relation with their Government, speaking as if the Government was slightly more important than its people. Obama and Reagan’s speeches have many other likenesses and differences, but I chose the most important.

  30. How would you compare the Inaugural Speech of Barack Obama to Franklin D. Roosevelt? In the mid of Franklin's speech he states that we should put away evil things. Barack also talks about crime and evil. Then Barack says we should that we should rebuild America, and get it back together. F.D.R. says, " We can't let America die." Then F.D.R talks about the spirit and faith that America has.
The difference between their speeches is that F.D.R talks a lot about the democracy. Obama talks about generations, and how he wants to keep them going on. These men are very different but have some same and different ideas in their speeches.

  31. Franklin D. Roosevelt and our new president, Barack Obama, are similar in ruling ways.Franklin D. Roosevelt acted true to World War II as Barack Obama will to the economy. FDR and Obama both worded “nation” fifteen times and declared it the most in their speech. Barack Obama and Franklin D. Roosevelt have differences as they do to similarities. Our new president’s paragraphs were long and inspiring. Four time president, FDR, had short paragraphs but were touching. I chose Franklin D. Roosevelt because he had difficult times as a president like Barack Obama will encounter difficult times as our country leader.

  32. I am comparing the inaugural speeches of Barack Obama in 2009 to Franklin D. Roosevelt's from 1933-1945. Both used the word nation many times. Obama used it 15 times and Roosevelt used it 26 times. Obama was talking about trying to fix America, and he talked about the war in Iraq. He said that he we were at war with a foreign nation and that he would withdraw the troops in Iraq. Roosevelt talked about bringing peace to our nation because of all the crime. He also said that America was a great nation on a great continent. Both presidents had to deal with the economy but Roosevelt didn't know it would crash. Obama knew that it was coming and he was prepared for it. Roosevelt did not have a war going on but he did try to stop a large amount of crime. Obama has a war going on and he is trying to withdraw the American troops because people shouldn't have to die to stop other people from doing bad things. Obama and Roosevelt both used the economy a few times and said that we would need to fix it. Even though they were presidents 76 years apart they still had to deal with the same problems.

    ReplyDelete
  33. A great comparison of election speeches would be between William Harrison and Barack Obama. Firstly, Obama is the current president, and just gave his speech about a week ago. William used power sixty-three times, because that was the country’s most powerful time; just coming off of the war, and Obama will be president duringthe war of Iraq. Both of them thought that this country should be for the people and by the people again. Obama was talking more about what was going on, and Harrison was talking more about what he was going to do. Finally, some things are diffrent and some are the same between two diffrent times in America, but one things for sure, every president has four years of work cut out for him.

    ReplyDelete
  34. In 1801 Thomas Jefferson mentioned "government" quite a bit probally because that long ago they were still forming our nation together. Obama's speech only included "government" four times in ways of stating that it is not too big or too small but that it works. As the first African-American president you would think a word he used often would be "freedom" or "change", but he used "nation" the most because he cared about the United States. He also didn't even mention color often. Jefferson didn't even have segragation in his mind after he was elected, because back then African-Americans weren't around. These presidents are very different from each other, and had differnent problems to think about.

  35. John Adams and Barrack Obama share some of the same ideas and also different ideas when stating their inaugural speeches to our nation. One thing that John Adams said was that he would protect this nation. Barrack Obama said that he will change this nation’s biggest crisis’s. Notice that both presidents used the word nation in explained what they would do to help. Both wanted to help this country’s problems. Adams said that he wanted to settle differences in our country’s government. When Obama gave his speech he also talked about the government and restoring it. They both also have differences too like John Adams used government more so in his speech than Obama. Obama’s main goal for his presidency is ‘’change.’’ Adams was more so about protection than change. These are the similarities and differences of the two presidents, John Adams and Barrack Obama.

  36. I compared the speeches of the president of 1861 Mr. Abraham Lincoln, and the presidentof 2009 Mr. Barack Obama. Well I found out that Mr. Lincoln stated the word "Consitution" 24 times because he was interpruting us on what he will do with our nation I also found out that Mr.Obama said the word "Nation" 15 because he said that he wanted to change our nation. Barack Obama said that he also wanted America to work together. Barack agreed that we were in the midst of a crisis. Mr. Lincoln said that he has no tendensy to remove slavery from the nation. I thnik all the other presidents were great too, but I think that Abraham Lincoln was a great president, and Barack Obama will be a great president.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I am comparing the speeches of President Obama’s speech with President Clinton’s. One of their speech differences was that President Obama talked about helping other poor foreign countries but President Clinton only talked about what was best for our country. They both talked about how bad the economy is and how they would help it by increasing job opportunity, raising everybody’s wages, and reducing the cost of health care. President Obama and Clinton said that by working together we could build a better economy. I have learned that the economic cycle have happened in the past is what we have been struggling now.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The Presidents I compared were Barack Obama’s Inaugural Speech and John F. Kennedy’s Inaugural Speech. In both of their speeches, they used the word “God” three times, but with Obama’s it says that God wishes us to live like Jesus and with Kennedy’s he says that God asks that we should all be thankful for what he has given us. Also, they said the word nation several times, but Obama said it more in the context of the crisis of the economy we’re facing right now and Kennedy says it less because he talks about war and freedom instead. Similarities of their speeches were that they used the word “freedom” in an identical way. When they say freedom it means they meant all people of other countries could come here to be free. Both of their Inaugural Speeches tells us the most important changes that must be done and they said that it will make us a stronger and more united country.

  39. The Inagural Speech from Obama and Bush are alike by showing they want to help everybody in this nation. They are also alike by trying to help the lower and middle class to get ahead. But, Bush was worried about the war in Iraq instead of turning all of his attention to the economy. Bush wanted to have more freedom by standing watch on our distant borders. Obama wants to get our soldiers out of Iraq, and he wants to turn to the economy and its crisis. But, they both are trying to help each class too.

  40. I compared and contrasted two president’s inauguration speeches, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and current president Barack Obama. When Obama talked about the people of this country, he said that the relationship between the government and the citizens needed to be restored. Franklin Roosevelt said that the people play a big part in recovering the economy. When mentioning the word "God," FDR used it in his closing sentence just like Obama. Both told the crowd that God would him guide through his presidency. Even though both of these president’s speeches were very different, they were similar in many ways.

  41. There are many differences, and some similarities between President Reagan’s 1985 Inaugural Address and President Barack Obama’s recent Inaugural Address.

One interesting fact that made Reagan’s speech different from Obama’s (and all previous presidents) is where it took place. The weather was so cold that it was held in the Capital Rotunda! It remains the only inauguration inside the Capital.

As far as the actual addresses themselves, I noticed more similarities in the topics and themes of both speeches, and some differences in how they thought the government should act.

For example, they both talked about their current outlook on the country, with Reagan saying, “Our Nation is poised for greatness” and Obama saying, “The challenges we face are real, but know this, America: They will be met”. They both referred to history in their addresses. Reagan referred to Adams, Jefferson, and the Declaration of Independence, while Obama talked about Concord and Gettysburg. They both spoke of threats America faced, with President Reagan discussing how we were working with the Soviet Union to reduce the number of nuclear weapons. Obama also said he would “work to lessen the nuclear threat”.

One way they differed was their belief in the role of the government. President Reagan thought that the government was too big and he was going to “reduce the cost and size of the government” and “bring tax rates down for all who work and earn”. Obama said “ The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works, whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end.”

Finally, they were similar in the way they talked about the future with hope. Obama said, “To all peoples, we are ready to lead once more.” Reagan used words like “Hopeful, big-hearted, idealistic, daring, decent , and fair” to talk about what America would be.

  42. I compared the inagural speeches of Benjamin Harrison, 1889, and Barack Obama, 2009.The way they are the same is that they both wanted to build up the economy. The way they are diffrent is Harrison was working on making a new country stronger and Obama is trying to rebuild a faltering economy. Both presidents wanted to eliminate government greed and wastefulness. Another way they are different and maybe even the same is that Harrison wanted fair treatment of African-Americans or "ex-slaves" and Obama is the first African-American president. I think the way these two speeches are the same and different has to do with the time in history.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I compared President Barack Obama to President John Quincy Adams. John Q. Adams used “government” and “union” twenty plus times in his Inaugural speech because when he was president the Union was young and they were in need of a powerful government. Obama and John Q. Adams both used “people” eight times but in different context. Barack said that our people are reflecting on our country, and he also talked a lot about people from other countries. John Q. Adams talked about the happiness of Americas’ people. I think that Obama talked about multiple subjects and used a variety of words, and since John Q. Adams had repetitive words he probably tried to strictly state his topics. Both presidents had extraordinary speeches during their Inauguration.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The two presidents that I observed were Richard Nixon and Barack Obama. These two presidents were alike because of their beliefs of peace and not war. Richard Nixon and Barack Obama are two men that thought this nation needed changes, for Nixon it was the war and for Obama it is the economy. These two presidents talked a lot about change in America and how to get along with African Americans and Native Americans from other countries. Government was another huge thing that they talked about and how we should trust it more. Richard Nixon was an extraordinary president and I hope that Barack Obama will do just as good in office as he did.

  45. I compared and contrasted Barack Obama’s Inaugural speech with the past president Franklin D. Roosevelt’s speech. Both used nation many times because of the terrible economy our country faced when Roosevelt was in office and Obama is facing today. A difference between their speeches was their opinion of war. FDR exclaimed, "This is an emergency for war!" While Barack said " Peace is something our country needs to learn." These differences and similarities in Obama’s speech can change our country.

  46. Both Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama both stated that they thanked each former president for his service and were truly great full for such a great honor and responsibility. "I am honored and humble to stand here, where so many of America's leaders have come before me, and so many will follow." said Bush at his Inaugural speech in 2001. Like President Bush, Obama is also humbled and honored to serve such an amazing nation. They thought that our nation is great as one with fifty states in between but as fifty tiny ones they aren't as powerful. What they believe is that people are important to the government and when a soldier dies it is a tragic thing. It's important to be faithful the the US and know how important the story of the country is and that how we hope Obama will keep the tradition going of great men, great leaders, and a great nation. Bush was right in saying that many great leaders will follow because Obama is one of them.

  47. I am comparing and contrasting President Obama and Taft’s inaugural speeches. They both equally were concerned about our nation’s work and how we dealed with the stock market. When Mr. Taft started his speech, he thanked us for his noble oath, but Barrack Obama talked about his humble task and how he will be a great president. Both their power and strength of their speeches made them succeed. I feel Obama will be a great and noble president for America.

  48. I observed Barack Obama’s and George W. Bush’s inaugural speeches that are alike and different in many ways. Barack Obama’s and George Bush’s speeches are alike because both of them wanted to give the United States’ citizens a better way to live, and to work, and also give them freedom. Also they are alike because they both talk about American people. Barack Obama’s and George Bush’s speeches are different because Obama is talking about nation but then Bush is talking about freedom. Obama’s speech is different from Bush’s is because that Obama wants to help our planet and saying that our economy is weaker and lost jobs, businesses are closed, and health care is too expensive and many schools failed. But Bush’s speech is the positive side like how we unite all these years. I have learned that each president has different plans and same plans on how they run our country and how they do it.

  49. I’m comparing President George w. Bush and President Barack Obama’ s Inaugural speeches. Obama said the word “Nation” fifteen times in his speech and Bush said that same word thirteen times. These presidents were strongly emphasizing this word because they both believed in a stronger nation and that this nation could do much better. President Obama said “World” seven times in his speech. President Obama believes in joining the world in economies and helping one another. President Bush said the word “America” eleven times in his Inaugural speech. President Bush believed in singling out our country and that we should focus on our country and not others. These are some of the likes and differences in these President’s Inaugural speeches. President Obama is all about change and President Bush was all about making this nation stronger. I think both of these Presidents did and will lead our country in very hard times. I also think that both of these Presidents did and will lead our country with the motivation to make America a stronger nation.

  50. Richard Nixon's words that he used compared to the words Obama used were differant in languge. I think Nixon was mostly running for world peace and responsibility. Nixon wanted the people of the US have a responsibility to make the future bright nd make it a wonderful place. Obama's language was more about the economy and world change. He wanted to change the world and make it a beter place, that is the same for Nixon. These presidents really fought for the peace in our country so that we can walk in the streets holding hands without the yelling and screaming it would be joy running through the air. World peace is just what every American wants.

  51. Barrack Obama and Calvin Coolidge booth have “Nation” in their inaugural speech more than fifteen times. Calvin Coolidge used prosperity four times, but Barrack used 3 times. Though the did not use it in the same way. Calvin Coolidge started out with “My Countrymen” yet, Barrack H. Obama started out with “My fellow citizens.” Barrack Obama said “God,” three times, but Calvin Coolidge didn’t say it any. Calvin Coolidge gave his speech in 1925 and Barrack Obama’s was in 2009. Either way starting with George Washington the Inauguration Speech is very, very long.

  52. I compared Calvin Coolidge's iaugural speech to Barack Obama's speech. They both talk about the nation and the people very constanly in their speeches. When Calvin was in office he was in a geat deppression, now with Barack he is in a resession. Calvin and Barack are alike and different in many ways. I am looking forward to Barack's way to lead the country. The next few years with him will be full of new escapades.

  53. There have been forty-four men to sit in the Oval Office as the leader of our county and it just so happens that I watched Barack Obama take the throne. On December seventh nineteen forty-two America was at war and, in two-thousand-eight America is at war again but not with another country with our economy. During school, grades one through six watched the inauguration of Barack Obama when I saw it I was certain that one-day this nation will be veritable. I compared Barack Obama’s inauguration to Franklin Roosevelt’s. Every word in both of Barack Obama and Franklin Roosevelt’s inauguration was like the words of Christ for us and to us. With their Strong Catchy words and loud voice and their vivid word choice Barack Obama and Francklin Roosevelt had many people on their feet apposing. Obama and Roosevelt both told about God and perseverance. Franklin Roosevelt said we will prevail from this war and, we did and the time has come that under Barack Obama we will prevail from Dessert Storm and the rotten economy.

Obama and Reagan’s speeches are alike in most parts, and different in others. They both want to solve an economic crisis. Obama wants to lead others. Reagan wanted to solve the government’s problem.

Obama wants to bring together and lead people to rebuild a failing economy. He sees work to be done everywhere he looks. He calls for people to act quickly to save the economy. Obama also promised to restore Americas place in the world. And to let people know that if they are in need of a future of peace and dignity we are friends.

Reagan called for a national renewal. He promised to start dealing with an economic affliction of great proportions. Reagan also emphasized the need to limit the powers over the United States. Reagan says,” Government is not the solution, government is the problem.

  55. As I examined John F. Kennedy's inaugural speech, I compared some of the words he used with the words that Burack Obama used in his inaugural speech. Their speeches weren't really alike because of what was going on at the time. John F. Kennedy used words close to freedom because people were being separated. They were separated from the color of their skin. They were separated from chuches, schools, and many other things. Obama used words close to change. He also wants to end war and take the men out of Iraq. There is a part intheir speeches that are alike. They were both talking about how they were going to end most of the things that were making everyone angry. John helped end the separation between whites people and black people. Obama is tring to end the war in Iraq. These were and are great presidents and made and are making good choices.

  56. I am comparing and contrasting Barack Obama’s and Ronald Reagan's inaugural speeches. Obama and Ragan both used the word "God" as a proper noun and in "God bless" something or someone. They are and were both sending a great message to the public by talking about how they can help and change America in ways to enhance the U.S in every way possible. Many of the earlier presidents did not even mention God because they did not want the people with other religion to feel different. Since they are both Christians they had some in common even if they were in different situations and different times. Although their speeches are different they were both trying to help America to be a much better country, but they had different strategies.

  57. I skimmed through President William Henry Harrison and President Barack Obama’s inaugural speeches. Both of them said “people” many times but for different reasons. Barack Obama Said it so we could work to keep our planet green. William Henry Harrison said it because the was back right at the beginning of the civil war. Barack Obama said “work” many times but William Henry Harrison said “construction” many times. They more than likely meant the same thing. Barack Obama said “work” because we have to work to keep the planet the way it is. William Henry Harrison said “construction” many times because that was in America’s early days. President Barack Obama and President William Henry Harrison had some similarities and differences in their inaugural speeches.

  59. As I’m comparing and contrasting President Barack Obama and Ronald Regan’s inaugural speech and I saw they used the same and different words. They both used “America” a lot of times in there inaugural speech. They used America to give us hope in the dark time that America is going through. Barack Obama used the word job many time and Ronald Regan never used it. Barack used it because he knows people will use their jobs in this bad time, but Ronald never used it because they didn’t know about the bad time yet. Both of these presidents are very good men and always will be.

  60. Barack Obama and George Washingtons' innaugural speeches were alike in many different ways. They both stressed that the journey ahead would not be a walk in the park. They said that America would have to band together in order to make it a better place for our children and our children's children. Both used the word "government" quite a few times. This was probably because of the poor condition of the government at the time. Although they were innaugurated 220 years apart, they shared many of the same goals. I hope and pray that Barack Obama will back up his speech with action just like George Washington did. The speeches of these great men were alike in many different ways.

  61. I compared the inaugural speeches of President Barack Obama with the past President Ronald Reagon. In 1981, the time of the economic affliction, Ronald Reagan used the word economic 4 times, mentioning, “The U.S. is confronted with an economic affliction of great proportions.” In President Elect Barack Obama’s inaugural speech he used economic 3 times, mentioning “The state of the economy calls for action, bold and swift, and we will act.!!!!” Of course there were some differences between the two speeches. Reagon thought about limiting the power of the government to help the economy. Obama thought, “Why not just rebuild the economy, and not take away the government’s power.” Obama and Reagan’s speeches have many other likenesses and differences, but I chose the most important in my opinion.

  62. I juxtaposed Ronald Reagon’s speech and Barack Obama’s speech. The most used words of Obama’s speech emphasized “nation” and “America”. By using these words I think he was thinking of our country and has big plans for the U.S. in the upcoming years. Reagon’s speech emphasized “government” and “people”. The times of these presidents weren’t far apart, but there were many differences in the country at the time when Reagon was president and when Obama became president. An alike thing they had in common in their speeches was they both wanted Americans to work together. A difference they had was Obama talked about fixing the rough times right now while Reagon was more half-full and talked about good things. These substantial speeches were two of the great in Washington D.C..

  63. I specificly observed Grover Cleveland and Barack Obama's inaugural speeches. I compared the two speches and I noticed the main problems were economy and an acute depression. Both of these problems caused many people to lose their jobs. Problems like these are very serious. There were not any wars during 1893 when Cleveland was president and in present time there is one involving the United States and Iraq. The great speeches by these gentlemen had similarities and difrences.

  64. There are many similarities in the inaugural speech of Barack Obama and Calvin Coolidge. In both of the speeches they talk about all the problems that we have in the USA. They both try to pull us together to fix the problems in the USA. Calvin Coolidge uses the words “Country” “Nation” and “Government” likewise Barack Obama uses the words such as “Nation” “America” “People”. They have a very small amount of differences in their inaugural speeches. Calvin Coolidge said the word “tax” nine times in the speech. He wanted to slow down “taxes” in a silent way. Obama said he wanted to stop failure in jobs and start a new age.

  65. I am comparing Franklin D. Roosevelt that was chosen nearly 75 years ago. President Barack Obama was chosen nearly one month ago. They were both elected when the United States had an economic downfall. Franklin D. Roosevelt spoke about getting out of the depression and a change in moral climate. Mr. Obama wants the American people to work as a team to rebuild the bad economy. He wants to take action helping the economy. He wants to help America get out of this economy, like Mr. Roosevelt did.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Barak Obama and Ronald Reagan showed many similarities and differences in their inaugural addresses. One similar problem they both faced was a bad economy. Reagan talked about "roadblocks that have slowed our economy." Obama said, "the economy is badly weakened." They also both talked about defending America. Reagan talked about the "enemies of freedom" and Obama said that "new threats demand greater effort." Both Presidents disagreed in the answers to the problems. Reagan said that, "government is not the solution, it's the problem" and Obama said, "it's not whether government is too big or too small, but whether it works." So even though both President Reagan and President Obama faced many of the same problems, they both had different solutions.

  67. I am comparing G. W. Bush with our new presiden, B. H. Obama, because they use in their context "nation" a lot. When I was reading throghout their speeches I found that they both have big plans for their new country. They bot mention growing a new country. Obama and bush are different when they talk about going to the White House and starting their job. Obama seems ready to start the job with confidence and Bush seems as if he had taken on the job before. Both have what it takes to be a successful top dog in our nation in alike and nonalike ways.

  68. Barak Obama’s inauguration speech is similar and different from former president Ronald Reagan’s. Mr. Obama is alike Reagan in the way that they both were concerned a bout the economy. Mr. Obama and Mr. Reagan both asked Americans to stand and fight the economy. They both said they would try there hardest to gain respect from the citizens. The former and present day presidents also strongly addressed the number of jobs lost. Obama and Reagan new they had to help people get jobs and get them fast. Deference’s of the two are for one thing Reagan had no sentences of war Obama had the war the war in Iraq, Iran Pakistan and Gaza. These speeches are so alike and so different. These are two of the best worded and spoken speeches in modern day White house History.

  69. I will be comparing and contrasting presidents William Howard Taft and Barack H. Obama’s inauguration speech. For instance in President Taft’s speech government was said twenty-eight times and in Obama’s it was stated four times. Their language is different because they used the words in different ways. For example, Taft said, “you will join with me I trust in thinking that there are none under the influence of which the proceedings of a new and free government can more auspiciously commence.” Obama said, “Self-government relies in the end, on the governing of the self.” This is one example of the differences in their inauguration speeches. Their speeches are alike because they both talk about uniting as a country and doing something.

  70. I am comparing and contrasting President Andrew Jackson and President Barack Obama's Inaugural speeches. Both Presidents start out their Inaugural speeches by thanking the American Citizens for electing them. Also both Presidents talked about spending America's money wisely. President Andrew Jackson talked about increasing the size of America's military and providing Indian tribes justice. President Barack Obama talked about building roads and bridges of America and he also talked about withdrawling troops from Iraq. From President Andrew Jackson all the way to President Barack Obama, we are still having problems in the US.

  71. 44 Presidents have taken the oath to be the President of the United States. I am going to be looking at the similarities and differences of the speeches of Barack Obama and John F. Kennedy. First I want to tell you the similarities, they both wanted the citizens commitment to help rebuild America. Mr. Kennedy was handed the oath after a narrow win verses a uncertain nation, while Mr. Obama has been handed the oath with a war still going on in Iraq. Now I want to tell you the differences of the two Presidents. Obama's speech was mostly about the economy. JFK's speech was mostly about the world and the country's that he wanted peace with. Most of the differences were because of how America was then and how it is now.

  72. I compared the inaugural speeches of presidents Harry Truman and Barack Obama. Barack Obama used the word ‘’nation’’ 15 times. Harry Truman used the word nation 24 times. They both used word ''Nation'' about peace and ending the wars between countries. A difference with the two speeches is when they both said’’ work.’’ Harry Truman said’’ If we work together we can accomplish more. Barack Obama said ’’We need to accomplish the work that has to be done.’’

  73. I am comparing Thomas Jefferson to Barack Obama. Thomas Jefferson was one of our finest and smartest presidents that our nation has ever had because he made great decisions for our country. I also think Barack Obama will be one of our finest presidents. We must give Barack time to get used to the office. Both Barack and Thomas wanted to have a stronger nation. Things that were different about these two presidents are Barack wants people that make a million dollars a year to pay more taxes and Thomas made everybody pay the same amount of money for there taxes. I think Thomas Jefferson was one of our best presidents and I think Barack will also be a great president for our Nation.

  74. I am comparing and contrasting Ronald Reagan and Barrack Obama on their inaugural speeches. Ronald and Barrack are both very popular and kind. Ronald Reagan cares more for our government while barrack Obama cares more for our nation. Both candidates care for America and us the people of the United States and Hawaii, if you count that. These candidates are alike in many was and different in many ways, but they were both great.

  75. Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama had very similar inaguration speeches, yet they were also different. For instance, they both said,"War." During Lincoln's term, the Civil War was going on. The war with Iraq is currently going on. One of the differences in these presidents' inaguration speeches was that Abe was taking about slaves because during his term, slavery was going on. Obama was mainly talking about jobs and the recession because right now, the economy is tough. Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama are two very unique presidents. Their character seperates them from the other presidents. These two are,"Two of a kind."

  76. I am comparing James Buchanan’s Inaugural Speech from 1857 to Barack Obama’s from 2009. During Mr. Buchanan’s speech, the word he used the most was “States”. Barack Obama’s most used word was nation. I believe that James Buchanan’s largest emphasized word was states because in that era, the people of the USA were working on building more states, and trying to be harmonized with one another. But nowadays, we are all trying to build a bigger nation and connect with other countries and continents, because technology has differed and the 50 states are already together and at peace. I also believe that James Buchanan used the word “unite” 8 times because of the struggle that was going on with Britain and other countries, and that Mr. Obama only used this world once (in completely different context) because we, once again, are all at peace with the other countries of the world. All in all, I think that the languages and words used back then and now were completely different.

  77. I have decided to compare John F. Kennedy to Barack Obama. They both used the word “nation” allot! That does mean that they used in the same way. When JFK was in the office our country was going through the Civil Rights movement. So he was talking about our nation and how we could get better as a country. Right now we are going through a war in another country. So he was talking about Iraq’s nation and how they could get better as a country. This nation will do great things with Obama as President.
